Alma Whitney

Alma Whitney is a Kansas City gospel icon whose long music ministry as a composer, arranger, director, and educator has helped to preserve traditional gospel music in Kansas City and nationally. She has trained and formed numerous Kansas City gospel groups, including the Whitney Singers and the Whitney Tones, which recorded many popular albums. During the 1970s she served a Minister of Music for the National Quartet Convention. Her youth choirs trained many gospel singers who went on to acclaim.
